Hey, Reader!
If you ask me, classic cocktails are some of the recipes that any at-home bartender should know how to make. Why? Well, by definition, a classic is "judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind." That means these drinks have been proven delicious again and again — what more do you need?!
Don't get me wrong, one of my favorite things is learning a classic recipe and then putting a spin on it, like the tequila old-fashioned or blood orange daiquiri. But today, we're going back to the basics with these cocktails:
sidecar cocktail
The sidecar is a great recipe for any home bartender to add to their repertoire. With just three ingredients, it’s an elegant and seemingly fancy cocktail starring brandy, which brings fruit-forward notes and sweet strength.
martini
Despite what we've been led to believe (looking at you, James Bond) the classic martini is in fact stirred. This smooth cocktail can be an acquired taste since it's dry, not sweet, and has hints of herbs and citrus thanks to the gin and bitters.
old-fashioned
Calling all whiskey lovers, this one is for you! A classic bourbon drink, the old-fashioned is a spirit-forward cocktail that's easy to customize to your liking. You can even simplify the sipper by using old-fashioned syrup.
brandy alexander
Two words: drinkable dessert. This creamy cocktail features sweet cognac, chocolatey crème de cacao and thick cream to make a decadent, luxurious cocktail.
champagne cocktail
Sparkly and elegant, the classic Champagne Cocktail is fit for celebrating any occasion, big or small. It's a great way to take a glass of champagne to the next level and is SO fun when set up as a bar for a party!
Whether you've never tried them or have written them off in favor of the latest and greatest, I hope this gives you some inspiration to revisit these classic cocktails.
Cheers!
