Hey, Reader!
Labor Day Weekend is here and although it signals the unofficial end of summer, it's still pretty hot. That makes refreshing drinks that can beat the heat a necessity when you make your menu.
Most year's LDW is a casual affair in our house. We'll maybe spend time with friends or family, or enjoy a quiet evening or two on the deck with the dog. I have friends who like to go all-out with cookouts or pool days, which sounds like fun too!
Despite my excitement for fall (and all the fall flavors), I'm having a hard time letting go of the drinks that were on rotation this summer. However you're spending the weekend, here are my favorites to enjoy one last time before the weather cools:
blackberry basil smash
With sweet blackberries and crisp mint, this smash cocktail is ultra refreshing for your summer send-off. If you haven't made a smash yet, you're in luck because no special bartending skills are needed!
watermelon sangria
Thanks to white wine, lemon and ripe watermelon, this sangria hits all the right notes! It’s bright, fruity and ultra quaffable, plus it's made in a big batch form that's perfect for parties.
basil mojito
This has been my go-to drink this summer and I'm not ready to let it go just yet! Homemade basil syrup is the key to capturing vibrant basil flavor.
cheerwine old-fashioned
This twist on the old-fashioned cocktail stars your favorite bourbon and North Carolina’s #1 black cherry soda (you can find it all over or use your favorite local variety) turned simple syrup. This cherry-flavored cocktail is a perfect kiss goodbye to summertime.
boozy freeze pops
Boozy freeze pops bring the fun to any gathering! You can make them to fit your taste, picking just one flavor or creating a rainbow that will keep you cool all weekend long.
However you're celebrating, I hope you enjoy the long weekend!
Cheers!
