Hey, Reader!
If tequila brings back memories of cheap shots in your college dive bar, it's time to give it another chance. Plus, with Cinco de Mayo just around the corner there's no better time to give this Mexican treasure its time in the sun!
Spoiler alert: tequila is tasty in so much more than just margaritas. It's an agave-based spirit that gets its clean, crisp flavor from the steamed hearts of the blue Weber agave plant.
There are plenty of different varieties of tequila, each with different type offering a different flavor and color. Blanco tequila, or silver tequila, is the most commonly used tequila in mixed drinks, but you can opt for your favorite or whatever you have on hand! Be sure to look for a bottle that indicates it is 100% agave rather than a mixture of agave and cane sugars. This will give you a better tasting drink!
paloma
The Paloma is Mexico's national drink, which many don't know! It's made with tequila and grapefruit, making it sweet, sour and a little bitter. This pretty pink cocktail is totally crushable!
tequila sour
This spirited sipper is a twist on the whiskey classic with a smooth, silky texture thanks to the egg white. It looks fancy, but comes together easily, making it a great way to elevate taco night!
tequila sunrise
Packed with color and flavor, the tequila sunrise is a showstopper. Sweet, tart and colorful, this pretty cocktail looks exactly like a sunrise over the sea and is the next best thing to sipping on the beach.
tequila old-fashioned
With an aged tequila, lime bitters and a piece of lime peel, this zesty spin on the classic bourbon cocktail is a great way to enjoy this agave spirit.
tequila mockingbird
This drink brings the heat with watermelon, jalapeño, lime and a touch of sweetness. It’s bold, a little fiery and definitely not your average margarita. If you like a little spice in your sip, this one’s for you!
If you need to spice up your home bar with tools and tastes catered to tequila, I've got you covered. Now the only question is, which one will you make first?
Cheers!
