Happy Syrup Sunday Monday, Reader,
Oops, I totally meant to send this email yesterday, but a busy weekend got in the way, so here we are. Pretend it says "Syrup Monday" up there, okay?
Cinnamon is one of my favorite flavors. Period. I love this warm spice in just about everything, from weekend cinnamon rolls to my cocktails and coffee the rest of the week. You can catch me drinking a cup of chai or cinnamon tea just about every night, year-round.
It is a flavor that works for the entire holiday season, and more. You'll see it in many of my Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes. But, when I was planning out this series of emails, I realized I use cinnamon syrup for several of my Halloween-coded recipes too, so that's the theme of this week's email. (Don't worry. You'll be seeing cinnamon syrup again soon in a holiday Syrup Sunday email.)

Warm spiced goodness that works for every holiday the rest of the year. Make it now for cozy Halloween drinks thisweekend.

what to make with it
- This humdinger of a tiki cocktail is peak summer, but its name makes it perfect for Halloween. With three kinds of rum, it's no surprise it got its name from the way it made its first drinker feel the next day, so make it at your own risk!
β
- A year later and I'm still obsessed with the eyeball garnishes I made for this Halloween sangria. You can make it with red wine or fruit juices β use my virgin sangria recipe to make it non-alcoholic and kid-friendly. Cinnamon syrup adds a cozy undertone perfect for chilly October nights.
β
- Whether you're staying up late for the trick-or-treaters this weekend or already know you'll be adjusting to the time change, a little caffeine might be in order. I love the way cinnamon syrup layers the flavors of this non-alcoholic espresso martini.
β
If you like cinnamon as much as I do, stock up on cinnamon sticks before the holidays. Like, RIGHT NOW. Use them to make this syrup and other infusions, and to garnish holiday drinks. I like to buy them in bulk because they're more cost-effective than the grocery store jars containing a measly three sticks. |
something to go with it
Die-hard cinnamon lovers probably already have a go-to snickerdoodle recipe... but these chai snickerdoodles are one of my favorite cookies to make this time of year. It's just a little punch-up of the classic cookie.
I hope you give this syrup a try β hit 'reply' and let me know your favorite way to use it. I read every one!
Keep it sweet & simple this week, friends!
