Hey, Reader!
Since today is National Tequila Day, there's no better time to celebrate the tasty agave-based spirit!
Tequila is a slight bit polarizing. For some, tequila brings back memories of cheap shots in their college dive bar. For others, it's a favorite spirit that stars in drinks like the ever-popular margarita.
If you fall into the first category, you might need to give it another go. Luckily, there are plenty of different varieties of tequila to try, each with different type offering a different flavor and color. Blanco tequila, or silver tequila, is the most commonly used tequila in mixed drinks, but you can opt for your favorite or whatever you have on hand.
Before you start mixing, be sure your bottle indicates it is 100% agave rather than a mixture of agave and cane sugars. This will give you a better tasting drink!
cadillac margarita
The Cadillac margarita steps up your cocktail game thanks to top shelf ingredients. The flavor profile of the drink is so much smoother and more nuanced but it's still so easy to make.
paloma
The paloma is pretty, pink and totally crushable. Made with tequila and grapefruit juice, it's balance with sweet, sour and bitter notes that make it bright and refreshing.
tequila old-fashioned
This boozy bevvy is a zesty spin on the classic bourbon cocktail. With an aged tequila, lime bitters and a piece of lime peel, it's a lighter drink that still contains complex flavors.
ranch water
If you're looking for a light and refreshing drink, this is it! With similar ingredients to a margarita — lime juice, tequila and simple syrup — sparkling water sets it apart with an infusion of bubbles.
tequila mockingbird
This drink brings the heat with watermelon, jalapeño, lime and a touch of sweetness. It’s bold, a little fiery and definitely not your average margarita. If you like a little spice in your sip, this one’s for you!
These recipes are ready to celebrate National Tequila Day, but they're good enough to keep around for the rest of the summer.
Cheers!
