Hey, Reader!
One of my best hacks for making drinks is homemade simple syrup.
Wait! ✋ Don't close this email! I already know what you're thinking:
"I skip every drink recipe that tells you to make a simple syrup first..."
I get it! I used to feel like that too! Even if it only takes a few minutes, it is an extra step. But then I learned this sweet secret:
Simple syrup is an ingredient that unlocks unlimited drink recipes, not just the one you're making it for. That changed everything for me!
so, i'm trying something new...
These days, I like to make one syrup at the start of the week — AKA Syrup Sunday — and then I have a sweetener ready for my coffee, tea, cocktails and mocktails all week long.
It's kinda like... meal prep, but for drinks? My weekly syrup is great to have in the fridge for just my husband and me, but it also comes in clutch if we have friends or family over.
This week, instead of sending you a bunch of drink recipes, I'm bringing you along for the ride.
Starting this month, I'll send you the syrup I'm making each week, plus a few drinks to make with it and a food pairing to enjoy with them all. That said...
welcome to syrup sunday!
First up? It wouldn't be the first Sunday in September without pumpkin spice syrup! This recipe is going viral right now, so I wanted to make sure you didn't miss it!
As the seasons shift, there's no fall flavor more iconic than pumpkin spice. Pumpkin spice syrup is the easiest way to add a touch of fall with just a handful of ingredients.
Making your own is cost-effective and, most importantly, way more delicious than that coffee shop.

pumpkin spice syrup
Simple, sweet and full of fall flavor, this coffee syrup is topping the charts right now!
|
what to make with it
- Pumpkin Spice Latte: You're the barista in charge of sweetness, spice and pumpkin flavor in your PSL.
- Pumpkin Spice Old-Fashioned: Real pumpkin, fall spices and Kentucky bourbon are a winning trio.
- Babyccino: Steamed milk + pumpkin spice syrup = the coziest caffeine-free sipper for all ages.
Don't like pumpkin? Squash the pumpkin, keep the spice! This spiced syrup has all the same cozy flavors. |
while you're at it...
If I'm not making pumpkin spice syrup in the fall, I'm making pumpkin bread. One can of pumpkin purée is enough for a few batches of both! (Freeze it to save it for the next batch if you don't use it all.)
It's just not fall without a little pumpkin spice!
I hope you give this syrup a try — hit 'reply' and let me know your favorite way to use it.
Keep it sweet & simple this week, friends!
