Hey, Reader!
Summer is a terrific time to make your own drinks because there is so much in season. Outside of the local farmer's market, I like to take advantage of the warm weather by growing things that are perfect for sipping.
Even if you don't have a green thumb, you can still draw inspiration for fresh summer drinks from the garden. From herbs to fruits to veggies, there are so many ingredients that can transform a classic recipe or stand all on their own.
When you grow the ingredients yourself, the resulting drink tastes that much sweeter!
blackberry basil mocktail
Blackberry and basil offer a combination of sweet and savory flavors that stand out, even without any booze! It's refreshing, yet elegant enough for any summer celebration you may have scheduled.
watermelon lemonade
Sweet watermelon makes the classic lemonade recipe that much better! When your melon is ripe and fresh, it packs in additional flavor to compliment the citrus. Plus, this recipe is party-sized!
herbal limeade
With three different herbs and bright lime juice, plus a touch of simple syrup for sweetness, herbal limeade has a visual and tasty punch! Don't forget to double strain the drink for smooth sipping.
cucumber mocktail
For something light and refreshing, the cucumber mocktail fits the bill. It’s got spa day vibes and resembles a cucumber-flavored soda, with fresh citrus showing up as the ultimate complement.
mixed berry syrup
Raid your berry bushes to create this syrup that's a perfect mash-up of whatever you have available. It's colorful, sweet and can be stirred into anything from lemonade to soda water and more.
I've been working hard to improve my green thumb, and it's paid off with a thriving mocktail herb garden. Make yours as big or small as you can handle and you'll be sipping all summer long!
Enjoy!
