Hey, Reader!
One thing the coffee shops don't want you to know is just how easy cold foam is to make at home.
If you haven't enjoyed cold foam yet, it's a frothy topping known for its light and airy consistency. Essentially just frothed milk, it's able to top cold drinks without melting (unlike its counterpart frothed with steam).
Without the use of heat, cold foam is thick, creamy and meringue-like in texture, ideal for topping or layering in any cold coffee drink. The foam sits atop the drink and gradually melts into it as you sip.
If you like light, airy foam you'll get the best froth comes from using nonfat milk. For a thicker foam that's more like whipped cream, use half and half or heavy cream. Plant based milks are hit or miss when it comes to frothing, so you'll want to play around with different alternative types of milk to see which works best.
You can stick with just milk, but for a touch of sweetness try simple syrup, brown sugar, agave nectar or flavored simple syrup. Each of these additions will give you a different flavor and can transform your drink for the season. Caramel or vanilla are some of my current favorites!
If you're ready to craft your own cold, you only need 5 minutes and a handheld frother.

Cheers!
